Not only is there no life after death, there is no life after life; in a few short decades after death, it is as though the average person never lived at all. After a few centuries, leaders and luminaries are forgotten; after millenia, whole nations. Even the planet will be gone one day.

Life is cruel; and by that I don't mean to say that life is hard, although it is; I mean that to endow organisms with life and self-awareness and awareness of the world around them, only to take it from them once they really start to realize their potential, is cruel.
