It may not appear like a major high-tech issue, but the increased density of modern blade servers is actually imposing limits in terms of being able to keep them cool enough to function. It turns out that many server rooms are now temperature-limited rather than volume-limited. Incidentally, as a home user, I am able to avoid having to heat my condominium for a couple of months in the year, when the amount of heat given off by machines is sufficient to keep the temperature above the thermostat's trigger point. So the cooling problem may affect home users, too.
