From kborn at neurosaudio.com Mon May 2 12:25:30 2005 From: kborn at neurosaudio.com (Kathryn Born) Date: Mon, 2 May 2005 14:25:30 -0500 Subject: [Neuros-gamma-group] Neuros Newsletter - May 2005 Message-ID: <5EC7EB573FF6D044AF060EE3D1B3525F182E1F@nasrvdc01.neurosaudio.com> Dear Good Fellows of Neurosland, Another exciting season for Neuros, with the Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder launching successfully on Woot!, the upcoming Neuros 442 Personal Media Computer, and other new products coming down the pike. The big news today is the survey/contest, along with some other newsworthy tidbits. If this newsletter doesn't float your boat, unsubscription directions are at the bottom of this email. Survey/Contest Follow the link to this survey that was compiled as we solidify our internal business plan. We have enlisted a team from the University of Chicago to help us develop the section on you, our beloved Neuros customers. When the survey closes will pick a random email from the completed surveys and send that person a free unit. So there's a little motivation for ya! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=446281031898 New Firmware and Tools (Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder) For those of you that don't already know, we have new firmware for the MPEG-4 Recorder that will increase the volume a bit. It's been out there for a while, and used by a pretty big pool of users, so it's pretty solid. http://open.neurosaudio.com/archives/recorder/Main.zip In addition, people have been posting great links on the forums to software that will play files directly from your Recorder to other devices, like your PocketPC and Treo 600. Our community has been invaluable for things like this. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to pass on this type of info. Town Hall Meetings For the technical at heart, as you well know, we have the Open Neuros site, http://open.neurosaudio.com . It has really started to hum with new voices, and gives the latest unfolding of the open source excitement, along with info about Joe's next Town Hall meeting (held on the Neuros IRC Channel on freenode.net). Not to mention the 1K bounty for an equivalent of Podcasting on a Neuros. Neuros in the News I'll just close by saying that we're excited and invigorated by the awesome amount of techie press we've been receiving. In just the last couple weeks, we've had reviews on UberGizmo, Pocketnow, and The Register, along with the front page of DAPreview, Engadget (couple times) and Gizmodo. My Google press alerts are ringing off the hook. We also got a great mention last week by the Wall Street Journal in their article "What's Woot?" Our web traffic has never been higher and so are our spirits. Keep your face to the sunshine and you'll never see the shadow, as Helen Keller once said. Alright my friends, that is the news for the time being. We thank you again, couldn't do it without you.
